ENG: Funny story… As soon as I came up with the idea of wearing a hat for my Carpathian Beauty outfit I was determined to finally go for one of Sju’s wonderful pieces. Having boots from a Hungarian designer (Reka Vago) it seemed to be a nice touch to wear a Slovak design as well (the contest was organized in Slovakia for Hungarian girls, hence the context).
However, after reading Sju’s website I had the impression that she was Czech, therefore I contacted her in English (I can understand some Czech as long as it resembles any lines from old Czech cartoons I used to watch, so English seemed to be a safe choice). Being a bit disappointed that my “Hungarian – Slovak / London” touch outfit (whatever, just please keep reading) didn’t work out, I still wanted a BySju hat.
After two weeks we finally met for a coffee (which we are still not sure was decaff), and guess what! She IS Slovak! And guess some more! She speaks Hungarian as well! How wonderfully unbelievable! All the pieces fell into place.
Sju is such a delightful and kind person. She got a hat from her grandpa couple of years ago, which inspired her to start her own business. Her grandpa promised her, that when he wins the lottery he will buy a store for Sju and her hats on Oxford Street. Imagine grandpa’s happiness, when Sju’s collection in collab with Oliver Proudlock actually got exposed in Topshop on Oxford street!
HU: Amint osszeraktam a fejemben a Karpatok Szepe outfitemet rogvest tudtam, hogy beszerzek egy BySju kalapot. Mivel a csizmam a fantasztikus magyar dizajnertol, Vago Rekatol volt, szerettem volna, ha a kalapom “szlovak” (merthogy a verseny magyar lanyokrol szolt Szlovakiaban megrendezve).
