THE STORY OF MY WEDDING DRESS

ENG: It all begun in February, when I realized it was time to find THE dress. After some (very little) research I learned that at an average price of £1,400 the wedding dress might have been the biggest single-item outlay I was going to have. Being almost unemployed at the time I could not afford to go bananas on the thing, plus I was absolutely OK not to have a traditional dress anyway. Several high street stores do have bridal ranges, so I kept looking (like for a day or two), but I couldn’t be bothered. I decided to have a white combo for the big day – something like what Olivia Palermo rocked earlier this year.

Pretty much that summed up my dress hunt, until a friend of mine revealed her gown being from Ebay. I gave it a shot just for fun, searching for a vintage lace dress, and that was when I fell in love. I saw it and instantly knew – no matter what, this is what I was going to wear on the big day. Yes, ladies, I confess, I ordered a copy from Ebay, made in Shanghai, and I couldn’t have been happier about it. Now, let’s just pause for a minute so those judging me for having a designer copy can calm down and move on. I am going to say copy once more – it was a custom made Jim Hjelm mermaid cut lace dress, which I purchased without even trying it on. They requested several measurements of mine in order to sew my dress, which arrived in April.

I was over the moon until I tried to put it on, only to discover that it wasn’t going to pass my “popo” (for more info on the “popo” subject see THIS post). Naturally I thought I’d put on weight, which in fact I’d lost, so I blamed it on the shape – perhaps there was a special way to put it on, or I just needed help. Well, none of them was the case. Little did I know, that I’d sent the wrong dimension for my hips – it took me a while to discover this fact, and also to admit it was fashion God punishing me for a copy purchase, and that was my price to pay. My immediate reaction was more than predictable, freaking out, of course, big time (but just secretly, as Tom did not know about the dress at all).

After several desperate tries there was no other choice but to admit, this wasn’t going to work. In a fit of despair I contacted my only hope, Annamaria Kiss Kosa aka Koka Fashion. She insisted that everything was possible, and promised me to take care of my problem. It was only 2 more month to go until the big day when I took my dress home in August. It was so last minute that failure was not an option. Upon arrival Annamaria put her scissor set out next to my dress, and asked for my permission to cut it open. Can you imagine? She merged her scissors into it with such a coolness as if it was the most natural thing to do on Earth. Just the thought of it made my blood run cold.

After releasing some extra fabric I managed to squeeze myself into the dress. Actually, it was the very first time I had it on and saw myself in it. I couldn’t breath or move, and it wasn’t just the dress being too tight. The thought of getting married manifested in front of my eyes. Anyway, Annamaria assured me that fixing my dress was a piece of cake, and that it was going to be ready on time.

Five days before the wedding I met her again to have a final fitting. I was super excited and even more nervous. We carefully unpacked it, I put on my wedding heels and gave the dress a go. It fit! OMG, it fit! She made a miracle, it fit! I was now fully wearing my wedding dress. It took me a while to learn moving around and sitting down, and I loved it. Huge thanks to Koka Fashion again and again, she literally saved my “popo”. As for my ceremony outfit I had deep blue heels from Dune, and jewellery from my granny. I didn’t wear a veil, instead there was a champagne silk ribbon in my hair.

5 nappal a ceremonia elott talalkoztunk ujra a vegso ruhaprobara. Annamaria csodat muvelt, amit halasan koszonok!
