Dear Fashionistas,
this story is a rather important one telling about how fashion becomes a statement of personal freedom. The ultra feminine and perfect housewives of the 50s´change into girlish women in mini skirts with straightened curves. 1963 is a big year for the Bikini, and two years later Mary Quant introduces the mini skirt, OMG! Synthetic fabrics are widely used, the boots are flat, our shoes are chisel shaped with almond toe. Big names emerge, such as Barbara Hulanicki, Andre Courreges, Pierre Cardin, Yves Saint Laurent, Emanuel Ungaro and Rudi Gernreich. Emilio Pucci drives the ladies into the ´Puccimania´, while Paco Rabane creates garnments from aluminium and uses black models. Everyone is extra slim, especially Audrey Hepburn, Twiggy and Veruschka…
Below is a selection of images that illustrates both the decade and its interpretation to the modern world of fashion. (Source: Pinterest)

Hope you enjoyed the story, let me know what you think.
