ROUTE 11 – LAMBETH NORTH

1

Lambeth North station is more than 100 years old, with a sad history of a near bomb explosion. Th station was designed by Leslie Green and was originally called Kennington Road, later on Westminster Bridge Road, while in July 1906 it was granted the name of Lambeth North.

I used to go to uni near here, at Elephant & Castle, so passed by this area many times by bus on my way home. It’s walking distance from the Parliament and the London Eye and it’s almost next to the Imperial War Museum, which I really don’t like by the way. I went there once with my class to do some sketches, but it has this sad and negative vibe of death and suffer. All I could think about while being there was that those planes and machines were probably used to kill someone, even if they weren’t, they still absorbed the energy of fear and destruction. It might sound silly, but it’s a good reason for me not to go there anymore. Anyway, Lambeth North is still a nice area, as far as I’m concerned.
