Dear Fashionistas,
This first part of fashion story talks about a decade, called mainly Belle Epoque, that highlighted the silhouette of the mature, full-figured body. These were some extravagant, elaborate and painful ten years, admiring the hourglass shape, tightly laced at the veist. The flowering of the haute couture movement made Paris the centre of fashion and set the tone for the rest of the Western world. High wasted skirts were in, some would call it the Titanic Fashion, and the most important part of the outfit of the well-dressed woman was the hat. The fashion designer status as known today hadn´t emerged yet, however there are two names to be mentioned: Caroline Reboux and Legroux.
Below is a selection of images that illustrates both the era of Belle Epoque and its interpretation to the modern world of fashion. (Source: Pinterest)
